Frequently Asked Questions

 

1. What Time Does the Class Meet?

The class schedule will be one meeting per week for 2.5 hours. The exact meeting time will be specified in the class syllabus. For an example, last year's syllabus is attached.

2. How do I register for the Distance Learning, Professional Development, and Regular Graduate class?

3. Do I have to be in the classroom for the lectures?

No.  Graduate students and Professional Development students both have a distance learning option in which you an access lectures and course materials on CD ROM.  You will have electronic contact and assistance from the instructor. 4. What is the Tuition for Distance Learning, Regular Graduate Classes, & Professional Development?

6. What are the advantages of registering for a Distance Learning Section?

A) You do not have to be present at all classes;

B) You receive a CD ROM of the lectures to review at you own pace and schedule. However, the deadlines are to be met as  specified in the syllabus;

C) You may come to class if you wish; 

D) For the Graduate class students may take any examinations proctored at your local company site.  These options are most attractive for students who are working and may have travel or intermittent required meetings.

7. Is there a textbook for the class?

The reference textbook for the Solid Rockets Class is "Rocket Propulsion Elements", Seventh Edition, by George P. Sutton and Oscar Biblarz, John Wiley Publishing, ISBN 0-471-32642-9

8. What is expected from students in this class?

Students in the class will be expected to comply with the academic schedule and rules set by each respective class syllabus.  For an example, last year's syllabus is attached.

9. When will the course be offered again?

With sufficient interest, it could be offered again in the Spring of 2009.  Current offerings have replays of the speakers rather than live lectures.  A preliminary schedule is provided.

10. Will the same speakers return for the course in Spring 2008?
